THE PEACE BELL
The peace bell was built on September 20th 1964 for persisting world peace.
Height: 1.5 meter, Weight: 1.2 ton
DESIGN AND MESSAGE
It described a borderless world map on the surface hoping for a borderless world.
As a symbol of peace, the pigeon statue is on the top.
What’s on both sides of the bell?
The nuke mark is on the hitting point of the bell and this aiming that every moment the wood hits the bell means damage to nuke power.
There is a mirror on the other side of the bell, aiming to reflect oneself who hit the bell.
Why does Lotus surround the bell?
The bell is surrounded by Lotus Root which means heaven, based on Buddhism theory.
Another reason is that people place lotus leaves on the burned/ wounded body to heal.
Some of those lotus roots are descendants of “Ohga-Lotus” which explored and germinated three of one seed from the soil 2000 years ago.
Can I hit the bell?
Yes, you can hit the bell if you want.
Please keep in mind one rule that you can not hit the bell until the resonance has gone to prevent damage.
